THE PSYCHIC SENSE

If not clearly understood, the psychic sense can be a detriment to our spiritual awakening because it is basically a sixth or physical sense.  Being genuinely psychic is very helpful and is a personal sense often laced with a feeling of power and may be fostered by the manipulative side of the ego-personality. To deliberately seek psychic powers for self-aggrandizement is to waste precious time.  It becomes a misuse of a heightened awareness.  Psychic experiences are a natural byproduct of a developed sixth sense in physical form.  It isn’t always connected with soul advancement.  Many animals, particularly cats, have it.  My cat, Baba, sees angelic beings and other forms of light around me and in the room.  Sometimes, I feel he sees and knows too much.  But at least, animals do not misuse the sixth sense like many humans tend to do.  Dogs often growl when they sense an invisible entity in a room.  It is fascinating to watch the dogs’ movement as he or she is on alert and following activity happening in a room that may not be seen or felt by the humans.

In the far distant past, being psychic was more commonly a part of the every day physical experience.  Looking to past ages of man, it appears as if the more a human is involved with materiality and technology, the sixth sense frequently diminishes in power and use. The truth of this is in evidence if one studies carefully the progress of the soul.   Anything, meaning power, can be used for the good or for mischievous ends depending on the consciousness of the individual and the cycle of humanity and its collective interest.   If psychic powers are a natural development in man and they are used for personal gain and glory, the misuse may temporarily destroy any gains that have been made in the enfoldment of the flower of the individual hidden spirit life.

Intuition in its pure form used for the awakening of consciousness is a gift to be shared with others.  Through intuitive awakening, we will naturally realize what we need to know to bring harmony and wisdom into the body and mind and create a healing environment.  Obviously, there are degrees in consciousness.  If we seek to unfold and awaken fully to our true spiritual identity, why seek that which is of the lesser?  Seek not personal power, but rather seek the Impersonal power that is available, healing and helpful to all?

It is through intense feelings that change and an expanding enlightenment eventually take place becoming a living reality in our lives. The pursuit for excellence demands attention, discipline and discernment for us to remove the veil from the clouded mind that is so easily deceptive.  It is through our mental and emotional choices that visions surface in the conscious mind.  Visions are meant to be teaching tools, a language taking comfortable forms to help us grow in our conscious awareness of a higher life that is waiting patiently to live through us as us.  The inner divine self transcends the senses including the psychic. The divine helps us remember what we have learned and encourages us to further explore the endless wisdom of the light of understanding through spontaneous visions.  Speaking from experience, the visions are not always understood.  We are not to only observe them and be thankful but use our intuition and in some cases intellectually investigate the symbols and make certain we understand the message correctly.  This is why we must be attentive and develop discernment not going off in the ‘la la land’ so typical of the many who are blessed with this ability.  Stay grounded, analyze what you have viewed, learn from the vision and take action if necessary.

We are given revelations from both the subconscious and super-conscious at the strangest of times.  They happen to me in the shower, at the grocery store, talking to friends and every type of situation imaginable.  If I can, I remove myself to a place where I can safely observe and receive.  Why spirit chooses inappropriate human times to present a message to us is interesting but then our typically mundane lives compared to their limitless freedom of expression takes precedence over what we consider convenience.

It is very comforting to realize that we have an inner companion looking out for our best interests.  It is important not to take for granted revelations but use them for spiritual growth and to help others when a need is indicated.  At one time, I referred to spiritual manifestations as gifts but soon learned that they are really an original and intricate part of our true self.  We have experienced and learned their existence long ago and are again remembering the forgotten presence and power.   There is a difference between psychic gifts of the sixth sense and the power and possibilities of the innate awakening aspects of our higher Self.   The sixth-physic sense primarily focuses on the invisible planes closely associated with earth and earth life itself.  To be psychic does not necessarily mean we are a consciously awakened spiritual being.  The ideal is to blend and use the two together for the good of self and all.  The intuitive knowing or gifts of spiritual illumination involve the wisdom science directed by that Source, Core, Indescribable Force, which existed prior to the birth of creation, humanity, false belief systems and materiality.

WHY DO WE FORGET PAST LIVES?

Many people find the logic and purpose of repeated physical incarnations troublesome because they simply cannot remember details of previous life experiences. In some ways, it could feel alarming to think that we have had multiple life experiences in a variety of forms.  Serious students researching scripture find countless references that nonchalantly refer to the natural order of reoccurring lives. It does appear that we sleep the sleep of forgetfulness when we enter a new physical form.  The veil obviously is a necessity.  Perhaps, it is an act of kindness. Think about it.  Most humans could not bear their own self-accusation.  After a period of time passes and the soul-mind matures through the acquisition of intuitive knowledge, character development and the power of faith and devotion, the veil lifts revealing glimpses of other times, faces and locations.  The intuitive flashes that give us the feeling that we been here before or know a stranger’s face and remember facts that were never presented to us this life experience are indications that we have forgotten experiences stored within the subconscious part of the mind.  To discover what we have previously been and retrace past experiences in higher learning, we must be open, have faith, practice discipline and definitely develop discernment.  A serious meditation practice quickens the process.

As a result of a prayerful and disciplined approach toward awakening consciousness, we can stir ancient memories.  Although the experiences arrive usually in an unexpected flash, we reach the conscious point where we remember bits and pieces of our past history.  To observe our journey with honesty and without fear requires soul maturity. With maturity comes a developed sense of forgiveness for words and acts done in an ignorant state of consciousness. Meanwhile, we continue to experience and hopefully learn what we need to understand and awaken fully as our true deathless spirit identity.
Assimilation takes time.  As soon as the experiences, lessons, are absorbed in the soul-mind, we are free to shed the attachments of previous past appearances.  After physical death, while resting in the invisible ‘in-between’ dimensions of the mental plane, the identity can assume whatever form it desires as the assimilation period is experienced.  When a soul-mind minus a physical body appears to a loved one on earth, it usually assumes the familiar appearance form although younger and healthier.  As the individual unit of light becomes awakened to itself, it may also appear as a burst of glowing light energy or another form that the earth relative would easily recognize.  One of my mother’s first appearances was as a glorious purple radiance and yet, I recognized and knew without a doubt it was her.  Speaking of the color purple, a wonderful friend whose death was a loss for all of us appeared at her upbeat memorial service dancing joyfully around her friends and family as brilliant light.  There were also quite a few of us who actually felt her touch.  While in her physical body, Verena loved and often led us in the Sufi movements. In contrast, other souls simply appear such as my dad looking just like himself except younger and healthier.

From my understanding, we usually are attracted to future earth incarnations until we are fully awakened.  We obviously need to clean up our act here before we go exploring another planet with physical life.  There is also the choice to remain for a time or permanently in one of the many subtle worlds of light.  Once we are free of the rounds of spiritual ignorance, lack, opinions and conditioned patterns and have regained a conscious oneness with Source, Supreme Spirit, we are free to travel to other spiritual systems.  This doesn’t mean we abandoned earth.  It is a matter of choice.  Many awakened souls return to help remaining souls who are still unaware of their true spiritual identity and purpose.

It is the spiral motion of the progress accomplished by the life impulses that develops the various kingdoms of nature.  Spirit vitalizes the continuous thread that runs through the evolutionary process.  Evolution of consciousness moves from the simple, to self, to Christ and Cosmic.  The physical body, as we know it, is an evolving expression of creative thought.  This is why many thinkers label earth as a school of learning.  If the physical form is respected and cared for and recognized as a temporary vehicle for individual creativity and progression, eventually illumination will come more easily.  However, the majority of humans look at physical bodies, as a means of gratifying the physical senses not realizing that they also have a set of higher spiritual senses.  As a result of a sluggish, ongoing ignorance, the soul-mind becomes trapped in the knots of erroneous thought that create a further sense of separation, imbalance and suffering.

Through will and choice, the soul-mind nurtured by the individual life giving spirit struggles to express itself in the duality of density.  The desires, attractions and experiences corresponding with the purpose, intelligence, memory and personality obviously vary with each traveler.  The differing aspects account for the many degrees of vacillating unconscious and conscious awareness existent on this planet.  It isn’t fair to try and compare one consciousness with another.

The purpose of an incarnation in matter is to become humanly what we are spiritually.  It is a big order when memory is veiled.  A soul may have a glorious past history of spiritual development but if he is not consciously aware of what he has previously learned because its been stifled by his current parents and environment, it means little except sadness for something missing and not quite understood.  At the same time, he could choose to strive to expand his character and consciously evolve to higher dimensions of thought and realization and not allow the ignorance of others to hold him back.

THE SECOND BIRTH

Humanity needs a mighty flood of the light of truth to dispel the darkness of the ages.  For a genuine change to happen, individually we need the inner experience of the Divine.  The exoteric aspect of the familiar church doctrine, dogmas, dissertations, rules and customs have served as a guide that has not really worked in the way it could.  To change that which doesn’t work to a higher level of understanding begins with the individual.  People are seeking methods to control the mind and gain depth in meditation.  The intuitive mystical experience of the soul and the expressing of it in our daily lives must come together in a way that God-realization is not only for the few but also for the many.  Imagine what physical life would be like if more of us understood that we belong to a higher reality and are finally free when we identify with the Divine.  The New Testament is replete with references to intuitive knowledge.  There really is only one religion…God-realization.

Self-realization and scientific knowledge will help us remove ourselves from the shadows into the light of truth.  Acceptance of one’s spiritual identity and a conscious communion will dispel the darkness.  Some of the ways we dispel ignorance and imbalances is through our words whether they be silent or out loud.  We activate an intelligent and obedient power.  The spirit within does a good job through our automatic body functions as well.

We naturally connect with God-realization through mental and intellectual awareness.  Ideas come to us.  It is then that we develop and apply these ideas.  When we request on the spiritual level, answers are not always fulfilled. Why not?  It could be we are asking for the wrong things or do not recognize the answer.  What may not yet be understood is to get an answer in the spiritual realm ask in a state of mind called spiritual awareness.  The requirement is for us to have experienced a second birth, a spiritual awakening.  It is then that we can do what Jesus said we could do.  This has nothing to do with baptism or rituals.  It is an inner transformation. The second birth naturally occurs when the body, mind and soul are ready for the spirit within to make its presence known.

The spiritual force does much for us without asking such as the body movements.  It does not help when we have lack of understanding or are disharmonious.    If we are not clear about what we ask, or the asking is contrary to natural law, we are asking amiss.  There are certain qualifications that are necessary before a request can manifest.  The Source does not punish.  Punishments are the effects caused by violating impersonal divine law.

We cannot do spiritual works or what are called miracles if we don’t have the necessary understanding.  Some people awaken for a few minutes; others may retain some of the effects of that experience for a year and completely change their lives.  Experience is one thing.  Learning how to use the powers is another.  To do the works, you need to remain and function in that consciousness.  Then there are those who have attained some degree of spiritual understanding but do not make much effort to use what has been learned.  In other words, haphazard and partial use can bring more difficulty to you than to one who knows nothing of these things.

Some have the knowledge but do not always act according to principle.  Body and mind grow.  This holds true in developing your spiritual awareness.  You must live up to your spiritual nature.  God created a spiritual you.  It is perfect.  Sincerely ask that you be able to manifest the real you on earth.  The spiritual you existed before your physical you first came into flesh.  Focus on it and encourage it to be your teacher.  Train yourself to look past the appearance.  Keeping your eye single means to view life as light covered by matter.  The quote, “Is it not written in your law, you are gods?”  It is the light that is being referred to.  Begin your spiritual development where you are now.  Everything boils down to you hearing and recognizing the prime teacher within.  Then, hold on to it. The goal of human life is to rapidly manifest the perfection that is already exists.  Train yourself to expand your light, tune into, anchor and live the light.  It is then that you are a genuine co-creator, co-operator and co-enjoyer with God.
